A monochrome view from the train as it passes over Langston Viaduct boud for Hayling. Items of note include the aforementioned swing bridge and signal box, and on the mainland foreshore to the left we can see timber pilings which once formed the berth for the Paddle Steamer ‘Carrier’s’ short lived Victorian train ferry service to St Helens, Isle of Wight. While to the right of the bridge we can see the rather more inviting sight of two of Langstone Village’s excellent hostelries, ‘The Ship Inn’ and the ‘Royal Oak’. (Photo: Roger Gallienne).
