The following publication was released in March 2012. Hard copies are available at the Spring, Havant.
It is a good historical series of accounts and theories about the connections between the mainland and Hayling Island, leading to the construction of the toll bridge in 1824 and its subsequent replacement in 1956. It also makes reference to other sources for further reading and includes text from publications of the period that provides further insight and background. Also included is an interesting account of smuggling on the island, illustrations within the text and a series of photographs of the two road bridges with captions.
