Mystery Painting By Chris Grimes

Chris recently came into possession of this painting.

Can anyone please help identify the artist? Initials AWG.

Clues:

The painting depicts the old road bridge with no sign of the new bridge being built. Period pre 1954.

The locomotive number is 32640, a regular on the branch. Period BR era – post 1948.

My guess is the early 1950’s.

Can anyone help please?

Can’t help with that, but would like a good copy of the painting for this site:

BTW, Peter, I’m looking for a brilliant photo you took of the Billy on one of your IOW excursions. Can’t find it on the site – it’s one of the train entering the station

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply. I too would like a good copy of this painting for this website. I am extremely busy at the moment but I shall look out for the photo that you mention at the IoW Steam railway as soon as I can.

    Best wishes

    Peter

BTW, what do you think of Wendy Heath?
