Summer services at Hayling Island Station – Alan Bell

Summer services were very frequent to the very end. This image depicts a typical scene in the 1960’s.

The train on the left, in the main platform, has just arrived from Havant and the loco is running round the train to be attached at the other end of the carriages.

The train on the right, in the bay platform, is about to depart for Havant. Behind it, spare coaching stock can be seen.

I do not know who took the photgraph and therefore cannot give acknowledgement. It was purchased, by me, on ebay.

This picture is in the book Branch line to Hayling and it’s credited to A.A.F. Bell on the 1st September 1963 . The quality of this one is far better than the book. It states this is the non-stop Havant service at 12:20.

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the info. I shall contact Alan Bell tomorrow but, in the mean-time, credit him with the photo.

    Best wishes
