Rear of Hayling Island staion building

The following image was sent in by Ross Shimmon 12 September 2012 in response to a request by Huttonmodeller for any images of the rear of the station building. Due to Huttonmodeller’s thread being under moderation at the time, the image could not be posted on his thread. I have now posted it into the image library on behalf of Ross and will link it in to Huttonmodellers thread. Ross took this photograph in 1960.

Thank you Ross for this very helpful image.

    That’s brilliant!

    Peter had almost given up!

    Will that meet Huttonmodeller’s needs?

Huttonmodeller is on holiday for the next couple of weeks but may get in touch by phone. I shall enjoy telling him about this.

If anyone else has images of this side of the station, please send them in or contact me.

Thanks Ross, this picture is a great help. It gives me a much better idea of the back view than I had.

I think I can see the part ‘jutting’ out (where the chimney is) is a blank wall. I speculated to myself that it might have been an entrance to the booking hall / ticket office etc.etc.).

Incidentally, Are you the Ross Shimmon that my wife Pat has been in contact with over the years regarding Col Stephens and his Kent & East Sussex Rly???? (and Rolvenden in particular)
