46 ‘Newington’ as Southern Railway W8 ‘Freshwater’ on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Here at Wootton station on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway we see preserved ‘Terrier’ No: W8 ‘Freshwater’, originally the LB&SCR’s No:46 ‘Newington’ among its many guises, running ’round its train past the beautifully restored signal cabin that once served the loco’s namesake IoW station. Terminus of the former Freshwater Yarmouth & Newport Railway’s line from Newport via Carisbrooke. (Photo by Ian Edwards).
